The Saviour

They claimed your broken heart with pride
They found a crack and pulled it wide
They took their love and climbed inside
They said they'd never leave - they lied

They left your heart and found your head
Took residence up there instead
Smoothed down your thoughts to make their bed
But then this tranquil hold they fled

They joined the blood within your veins
Washed life into your frame again
Cleansed your body of every stain
But having healed, did not remain

They found your lungs and claimed your breath
Took back your cries with loving theft
And swore they'd stay until your death
But leaving sighs, once more they left

They found their utmost end and stole
With subtle grace into your soul
Their other half, their final goal
They need your need to make them whole
